A man is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in the arm and back in north Belfast on Sunday night.

Police were approached by the 29-year-old victim in the Etna Drive area - where a man was murdered in a shooting a day earlier - shortly after 10.30pm.

He told them he had been stabbed by three men at Ardglen Place a short time earlier, having been approached by them when he stopped his car.

A 19-year-old woman who was also in the car at the time was not injured.

Three men – two aged 18 and one aged 20 – were arrested a short time later on suspicion of attempted murder.

They remain in police custody at this time.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who has any information, to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
