The death toll collated by the department is comprised mainly of hospital deaths.

There are currently 114 people hospitalised and 12 patients in intensive care. There are 104 care home outbreaks and 41 closed outbreaks.

The latest daily figure comes after the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) said on Friday it has recorded 664 deaths to 15 May - which is 192 more than the DoH figures for the same period.

Hospital deaths accounted for 48.5% of the total figure and 45.6% were in care homes.

NISRA’s figures are based on what is recorded on a death certificate and takes into account deaths in care homes and the community.
