SDLP and Alliance among parties calling for Cummings to resign

The Westminster leaders of the SNP, Lib Dems, Plaid Cymru, SDLP, Green Party and Alliance Party have written to Boris Johnson calling for Dominic Cummings to be sacked.

They said: "It is now a matter of record that Mr Dominic Cummings brokemultiple lockdown rules.

"He is yet to express any apology or contrition for these actions. Therecannot be one rule for those involved in formulating public health advice andanother for the rest of us.

"This is an issue that transcends politics. It has united people of everyparty and political persuasion, who believe strongly that it is now yourresponsibility as Prime Minister to return clarity and trust in public healthmessaging.

"We are clear that this can now only be achieved by removing Dominic Cummings from his post without further delay."

The letter was signed by the SNP's Ian Blackford, Sir Ed Davey of the Liberal Democrats, Liz Saville Roberts for Plaid Cymru, Colum Eastwood for the Social Democratic and Labour Party, Caroline Lucas for the Green Party and Stephen Farry of the Alliance Party.
