It may come as a surprise that Louise first studied Podiatry before realising she wasn’t that keen on feet! So with a change in direction, Louise went on to study Media at Ulster University.
Her career at UTV started in 2015 as a Content Editor. Here Louise would plan and develop the days news agenda. Weather stories often became the news and it was from here that Louise's interest in meteorology grew.
Louise was appointed as UTV News's Weather Presenter in April 2021.
Aisling has loved clouds and weather since she was a little girl. She says she was always curious why the weather was different every day and why it was never warm in Ireland in the summer!
Many years later, she completed a Masters in Meteorology in UCD and then came to the UK to start a career as a weather forecaster with MeteoGroup UK. Three years later she retrained with the Met Office to become a low flying aviation meteorologist working alongside the RAF. Later she moved to the BBC where she worked as a forecaster and eventually a weather presenter for the BBC. She joined ITV in 2017 as a weather presenter for ITV Anglia.
Aisling sits on the board of the Royal Meteorological Society and is interested in helping younger people with careers in science.
When Aisling is not in the office she is busy running around after her two young boys who don’t seem one bit interested in the weather!
