- Carrick Rangers 3-3 Ballinamallard Utd
Carrick Rangers and Ballinamallard United shared six goals in what was an entertaining 3-3 draw at Taylors Avenue on Saturday.
The visitors opened the scoring after just four minutes when Adam Lecky pounced on a goalkeeping error to fire home, but his effort was cancelled out by Gareth McKeown’s 25-yard strike midway through the first half.
Miguel Chines put the hosts in front after the break when he converted Tiarnan McNicholl’s cross at the second attempt, and Carrick looked to have put the game to bed when TJ Murray slotted home after being played through by Brian McCaul.
However the Mallards weren’t finished and Ryan Mayse’s volley pulled one back with five minutes remaining before Adam Lecky added the equaliser in added time.
Ballinamallard could even have snatched a dramatic win at the death when goalkeeper Brian Neeson was sent off after conceding a penalty, but stand-in keeper McKeown remarkably saved Shane McGinty’s effort from 12 yards.
Ballymena United edged out Ballinamallard 1-0 to pick up their first win of the campaign at Ferney Park on Saturday.
In what was a tense encounter, the only goal of the game came from the penalty spot - with Tony Kane finding the mark in the 65th after a foul by Mallards keeper James McGrath.
The result sees the Sky Blues move up to sixth in the standings, while Ballinamallard drop to 11th.
Ballymena will take on Ards in their next game, while Ballinamallard will face Carrick Rangers.
FT. Ballinmallard United 0 - 1 Ballymena United. Well done Sky Blues.
