A ceremony has been held to commemorate Armistice Day, at the Cenotaph at Belfast City Hall.
A two-minute silence was observed at 11am in remembrance of the fallen servicemen and women.
It marks the cessation of hostilities in World War One on 11 November 1918.
The event was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Belfast Lord Mayor Nuala McAllister and the High Sheriff of Belfast, Tom Haire.
Hundreds gathered for the service and to look at the display of crosses and poppies commemorating the war dead.
On Sunday, Belfast's City Hall will host the annual Remembrance Sunday service, where wreaths will be laid for those who lost their lives in the two World Wars.
