Will Grigg has missed out on reaching the ten-man shortlist for the title of Best Player in Europe.

The defence-terrifying Northern Ireland and Wigan striker was one of 37 players who picked up votes in the initial poll, after journalists from UEFA’s 55 member associations put forward their top-five lists.

Grigg finished in a tie for 25th place, alongside Giorgio Chiellini, Diego Godin, Hugo Lloris and Paul Pogba.

The top 10 players with the most points will go forward to the next stage of the vote where it will be narrowed down to a final five, before a winner is announced during the Champions League draw on 25 August.
