Two Lithuanian men who were targeted in a hate attack in Larne are now considering leaving the area, according to a local MLA.

DUP MLA for East Antrim Gordon Lyons has condemned those responsible for attacking the home of the “very good tenants” who have been praised by both their landlord and neighbours.

These men are clearly frightened about what has happened and certainly weren’t expecting this. The men are now thinking of leaving the area and that’s very sad. These are good people who have been exposed to this type of attack which is exceptionally disappointing and not what we want to see happening. Obviously I would urge anybody with information to bring it to the police.

The windows of a vehicle outside the house at Herbert Avenue were also smashed in the early hours of Thursday.

Police are treating the incident as a hate crime and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101.
