Tom Watson MP has called for a debate in support of representations by the Morgan family to the Home Secretary seeking a judicial inquiry into the police's handling of the murder.
Daniel Morgan's body was found in the car park of the Golden Lion in Sydneham in South London in 1987. It has been alleged that he was close to revealing details of police corruption when he was killed.
A trial of five men at the Old Bailey collapsed in March last year and his family were told by the Crown Prosecution Service and the Metropolitan Police that it was unlikely that any charges could be brought.
His family have continued to campaign on his behalf, and are calling for a judicial inquiry into why the trial collapsed.
