Pupils campaign to save St Brigid's School, Denbigh from closure

The school would be merged with a nearby faith school

Wales' only state-funded boarding school has been threatened with closure.

St Brigid's in Denbigh could be be merged with another Catholic school in the area as Denbighshire Council looks to address concerns over low pupil numbers and the cost of keeping the school going.

A consultation ends on Monday.

Lorna Prichard reports.

Denbighshire County Council has a responsibility, working with partners,to ensure that there is an educational system in place that is sustainable over the next 15?20 years. We want successful thriving schools that provide the best possible learning environments and facilities for our children and young people/ Denbighshire County Council is clearly of the view that there is a need to review the sustainability of both schools to ensure that the provision of faith based secondary education in Denbighshire is secure and can meet the changing needs of the modern curriculum.
