Fears for future of pigeon racing in Wales as number of keepers falls to record low

Campaigners want the birds to be given protected status

It's not a pastime you really hear much about anymore but there are an estimated 2,000 pigeon fanciers in Wales. But the numbers taking part in the hobby is dropping.

That's being put down to attacks by larger birds.

Swansea Correspondent Dean Thomas meets one couple who have been racing pigeons for 20 years.

John Bowden and his wife have kept pigeons for 20 years.

They are both members of the Skewen Pigeon Homing Society and say they are fighting a losing battle.
