ITV Wales' current affairs programme made for S4C, Y Byd ar Bedwar have been presented with a Transgender Television Award for their coverage of the transgender community in Wales.
Jenny-Anne Bishop, who has been awarded an OBE for her work with the trans community in Wales, came to present Programme Editor, Geraint Evans and the Y Byd ar Bedwar team with the award.
Jenny-Anne Bishop said:
"We decided we needed to celebrate the work of the Broadcast Media in Wales and for 2014 the programme that you produced which Rona, Sadie and I were in was easily the best in terms of respectful treatment of Trans people, highlighting the important issues the community faces on a daily basis and in showing just how ordinary much of our lives are and how we fit into the communities we live in. Therefore the Y Byd ar Bedwar programme was easily voted as the best in Wales in 2014"
The Transgender TV Awards are now four years old. The awards recognise transgender positive television presenters, actors and producers by acknowledging those that have made a particular effort to treat transgender people with dignity and respect.
Research suggests there could be as many as 30,000 transgender people living in Wales.
