Police appeal for witnesses after A470 crash

Officers from Dyfed Powys Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed a serious collision in Brecon last night to come forward.

Two men died and five people are seriously injured after the incident, which happened near the Storey Arms.

In a statement, police urge anyone with any information to get in touch.

Dyfed Powys Police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A470 between Libanus and RAC bends near Storey Arms, Powys just before 10.15pm on Friday 6th March 2015.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a black Volkswagen Golf estate and a green Volkswagen Golf.

Tragically the male driver of the green coloured VW Golf and a male passenger in the vehicle have died as a result of the collision and three other passengers in the vehicle have been taken to hospital in what is described as a serious condition. Both the deceased men are from the Barry area and next of kin have been informed.

The driver and front seat passenger in the black VW Golf estate were conveyed to hospital where their condition is described as serious.It is believed that a number of vehicles were travelling in convoy at the time of the collision.

Five male drivers, from other vehicles in the convoy have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remain in police custody.

The road is closed while specialist officers examine the scene. The investigation is ongoing into the cause of the collision.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to get in touch with the Dyfed Powys Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.
