The National Assembly will today vote on a landmark bill which is intended to improve the prevention of gender based violence; protect and help the victims of domestic abuse and improve support for victims.

Opposition members have argued that the bill doesn't go far enough in terms of education.

Public Services Minister Leighton Andrews, who's in charge of the bill, has offered some concessions around safeguarding and teacher training in schools.

The Minister hopes this will help to persuade enough opposition members to support the bill's legislation and it will then become law.
