Wales' new flying doctors service will officially get clearance to take to the skies.

The £6 million a year service aims to get to 95% of the population by air within 30 minutes.

They'll be assisted by a 4x4 road team who will also aim to get to half of the population within the same time.

The new team has been operational since April and 100 missions have already been carried out.

As well as providing medical experts to the scene of emergencies, the crews are also utilising equipment designed by the armed forces.

Blood products are being carried by the 'flying doctors' for the first time.

Emergency teams will carry the extra blood, along with paramedics and consultants, meaning blood transfusions can be carried out at the scene.
