Around 700 homes are without power across north Wales after heavy wind and rain overnight.

Scottish Power engineers have been working overnight and throughout the day to restore power in the Conwy area.

A spokesperson from the company said around 300 homes have already had their power restored.

We have teams out across north Wales working to restore power. We are monitoring the forecast very closely and looking to get people re-connected as soon as possible.

The worst affected areas are the Conwy valley and Corwen, in Denbighshire.

The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' warning for heavy rain and strong winds across the north of the country.

Storm Desmond is expected to cause problems on the roads and ferrys.

Spells of heavy rain are expected on Saturday and early Sunday, with warnings of localised flooding in place.
