Should it be compulsory for all public servants to declare if they are freemasons?

A leading Welsh politician has called for more consistent rules for declaring membership of the freemason society.

An ITV investigation by Y Byd ar Bedwar has found there are vast differences in the rules within councils and police forces across the country.

I think it would be better if there was a consistency; that the question about freemasonry membership was asked everywhere, that answers were expected and in the public domain. The problem then goes away.

I and my members in south Wales are all very happy to tell people that we're freemasons, to celebrate the fact that we're freemasons and I for one have never shied away from the fact that I'm a freemason.
