Celebrity adventurer Bear Grylls has joined forces with Welsh Scouts to encourage more adults to volunteer with the organisation.
Recent figures show that membership has reached the 574,000 mark in the UK, but the movement is in need of more adult volunteers to ensure that growing numbers of young people can continue to join in. The total number of young people on waiting lists to join Scouting currently stands at over 40,000.
Bear attended the camp at the Denbigh and Flint Showground to highlight the benefits of Scouting to communities and encourage more adults to volunteer for Scouting in the future.
The best part of my role is always meeting so many inspiring young people who play such a positive part in the adventure that Scouting provides. This week marks Volunteers Week and one of my main objectives for the weekend is to encourage more adults to volunteer with the Scouts to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to join in the adventure that Scouting offers to all its participants.
