50 people a year in the UK die from 'alcohol-related drowning', coastguards say

A 'hard-hitting' new film has been made to highlight the dangers of drinking and falling into water.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency says it's targeting men aged between 18 and 29, who are thought to be most at risk.

The agency says people who have been drinking are more likely to take risks

Even if the weather is warm, the waters around the UK remain extremely cold throughout the year. If you fall into the water, you are likely to suffer from cold water shock – your breathing increases uncontrollably meaning that you are more likely to take water into your lungs and drown.
