Wrexham is first council to collect more fines from littering than illegal parking

Wrexham Council is thought to have made history by being the first local authority in Britain to have collected more fines from littering than through illegal parking.

The council currently uses a private company, which has issued more than 3,000 tickets in six months for littering with a fixed penalty of £75.

Wrexham County Borough Council says the collection of litter costs £1.2 million every year and it's now adopting a 'zero-tolerant' approach to enforcement to ensure it doesn't have an impact on public funds.
