More than 1,000 Harry Potters parade in Merthyr for World Book Day

More than 1,000 children in Harry Potter-themed fancy dress have gathered in Merthyr Tydfil for a parade to celebrate World Book Day 2017.

The Spread the World Literature Festival is held every year and consists of a parade, numerous workshops, and talks from authors, illustrators and actors.

"Without good reading and writing skills, young people will have limited life chances", said festival organiser Helen Hughes.

At the event each year we bring the magical world of books alive to enthuse and educate young people.
