The leader of the Wales Green Party has announced that she will step down from her role at the end of March.

Alice Hooker-Stroud has led the party since 2016, having defeated two other candidates in the contest to succeed Pippa Bartolotti.

She said in a statement today that the lack of funding for smaller political parties in the UK has contributed to her position being untenable, adding that she believes there is a need to "level the playing field financially".

Hooker-Stroud will be replaced by Grenville Ham, current deputy leader and expert in renewable energy.

In a statement, Ham thanked Alice Hooker-Stroud for her work and said it will be an "immense privilege" to lead the party.
