Licence application 'major step' in bringing Wylfa Newydd to Anglesey

Anglesey's new nuclear power station is a step closer to fruition, as an application for an operating licence has been submitted.

Horizon Nuclear Power says the move is another 'major step' in delivering Wylfa Newydd. The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) will now carry out a 19-month programme of assessment to ensure 36 conditions and obligations have been met before any licence is granted.

The ONR says it is the first application for a new nuclear power station since 2011 and it was working with Horizon to provide advice on the licensing process.
