Police officer suspended after admitting driving over the alcohol limit

A police officer could face dismissal after turning up at work more than twice over the alcohol limit.

Neil Bebbington, 48, of Buckley, admitted driving a Vauxhall Insignia at St Asaph business park with a breath-alcohol count of 80. The legal limit is 35.

Bebbington was fined £500 with £135 costs and banned for 18 months.

Magistrates at Llandudno heard colleagues had suspected Bebbington was unfit to drive.

North Wales police confirmed he was a police officer.

We will now consider this case as part of our internal disciplinary process. Meanwhile the officer remains suspended from duty.
