The Powys spa town of Llandrindod Wells has been named the happiest place to live in Wales and the 12th happiest in Britain.

Rightmove surveyed 17,000 people across the UK. Factors such as community spirit, feeling safe, the friendliness of locals, the amenities and local services available and earning enough to live comfortably were taken into account.

Another spa town, Royal Leamington Spa, came top and the happiest place to live in Scotland is Dumphries.

Llandrindod Wells became famous for the 'healing' quality of the local spring water and boomed in the mid 19th century when the Heart of Wales railway line came to town.
