The Met Office has issued a yellow 'be aware' warning of strong winds for the whole of Wales and heavy and persistent rain in the North West.

Gusts of 65 to 70 mph are expected along exposed coasts and over high ground like Snowdonia. Gusts of 50 mph are likely more widely.

Forecasters say some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely whilst outbreaks of rain, occasionally heavy, will add to the difficult travel conditions.

The wind is expected to ease by tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile heavy rain is expected across parts of northwest Wales before clearing overnight. Spray and flooding on roads will make journey times longer. Bus and train services will also be affected with journey times taking longer.
