Thieves make-off with pub's Christmas dinners

A pub was hit by thieves who stole all their Christmas food - a £1,800 haul including the turkey, gravy and even after dinner mints.

Owner David Roney, 64, was devastated to discover turkey, pork, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, cheese and mints had been stolen in the raid.

He now says that the Christmas Day meal planned for 59 people in The Old Tavern in Llanerch-Y-Mor, Flintshire, has been ruined.

David, who co-owns the pub with Peter Gibbons, said: "We were doing the dinners at cost price as we want to get people into the pub and make it a community hub.

"These thieves have taken everything - turkey, beef, ham, pork, stuffing, gateaux and even gravy browning. They even took 12 boxes of After Eight mints.

"It's sickening and disgraceful. We've spent so much time and effort trying to make this a nice place and it's devastating that someone would do this just before Christmas."

A North Wales Police spokesman confirmed that they are investigating the incident.
