Spate of quad bike thefts from Carmarthenshire farms

Credit: ITV News

Police in Llandeilo and Llandovery say they are investigating a spate of quad bike thefts from farms in the areas.

There have been thefts in Llangadog, Myddfai and Ffarmers, as well as many other rural locations.

Police are advising farmers to take steps to help minimise the opportunities for thefts.

This includes removing keys from ignitions after use, locking barns or outbuildings wherever the quads may be kept.

I ask that any suspicious activity is reported to police for it to be investigated accordingly. I would also ask that quad bikes are not stored, if at all possible, at derelict locations with no security.

I am aware that thefts of quad bikes and farming machinery causes disruption to farmers’ work, as well as the financial implications, and I would like to reassure the public that police are thoroughly investigating these matters and are actively patrolling these areas, to target those responsible for committing crimes in our area.

Local neighbourhood officers will also be visible in local marts to offer crime prevention advice and to engage with local farmers.

Police are asking anyone who has information about these crimes to call 101.
