The Welsh Assembly has been named the most LGBT friendly employer in the UK.
The National Assembly for Wales took the number one spot in Stonewall's annual list of Top 100 LGBT-inclusive employers.
This year, Stonewall's list focuses on trans friendly workplaces and organisations with measures in place to improve working life for transexual staff are being praised. Recently, the Assembly has introduced gender-neutral facilities for staff.
Research conducted by Stonewall last month revealed that over half of trans people have hidden their identity at work for fear of discrimination. They also found that 12% of transexual employees have been attacked by colleagues or customers in the past year.
The Welsh Assembly joins 12 other Welsh organisations in Stonewall's top 100.
We are truly honoured to be recognised by Stonewall as the leading employer for lesbian, gay, bi and trans people. The National Assembly has diversity and inclusion at the very heart of its role representing the people of Wales.
