Police have confirmed the woman found dead at a property in Carmarthenshire was 54-year-old Fiona Scourfield.
Dyfed-Powys Police were called to a property in the St Clears area on Tuesday evening where Ms Scourfield's body was found.
A police spokesperson said a post-mortem has been completed and the file passed to the coroner. A cordon remains in place and investigations are continuing.
A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.
Ms Scourfield was a member of German Shepherd Rescue UK.
In a statement on their Facebook page, the charity said: "To say the rescue is devastated would be a massive understatement. Suzi was one of our longest standing members who supported the rescue wholeheartedly."
The Welsh Ambulance Service have confirmed they sent two paramedics in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.
