Welsh beaches, marinas and boat tour operators have been ranked among the best in the world.

This year, nearly 150 coastal areas across Wales have received Coastal Awards, including almost 100 who have met the high standards to receive a prestigious Blue Flag.

The winners were announced by Keep Wales Tidy on a year which marks the 30th anniversary of the Blue Flag. The award goes to sites with exceptional environmental awareness and water quality.

30 years on, Wales now has more Blue Flags per mile than anywhere else in the UK.

This years biggest winner of Coast Awards includes Pembrokeshire which won 56 awards. They include Blue Flags, Green Coast Awards and Seaside Awards.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport Lord Elis-Thomas says it's a fantastic achievement for Wales.

This is a fantastic achievement and a true team effort and shows how Wales is committed to safeguarding our amazing natural assets for visitors and those who live here.

– Lord Elis-Thomas AM, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport
