Shark spotted swimming close to New Quay shore

A nine-foot long basking shark has been spotted swimming in New Quay Bay in Ceredigion.

It is the second basking shark that has been seen in the area in the past few weeks. The previous shark spotted was around seven-foot long.

Steve Hartley has been working at sea for 35 years. He said it is, "very, very unusual" to see this type of shark in the area.

The passengers saw dolphins and seals but they were very excited to see the shark so close to the boat.

Basking sharks eat plankton - they don't attack humans.

They are the second biggest fish in the world and can grow up to 30ft.
