Police have launched an attempted murder investigation after a woman was stabbed in the Rhondda.
Officers were called following reports a woman had sustained puncture wounds following the attack in Gelli Road. The 29-year old was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. She is currently in a stable condition.
Police say they have arrested a 33-year old man in connection with the assault.
Extra officers have been patrolling the area to reassure the local community.
Detective Inspector Arabella Rees said people were "shocked" by the incident.
South Wales Police are asking anybody who has information on the incident to call 101.
