Cardiff's St Mary Street reopens after police respond to reports of incident

South Wales Police says it has reopened Cardiff's St Mary Street after responding to information that ''threats had been made to people in a hotel'' earlier this afternoon.

A number of people were evacuated from the premises and neighbouring buildings but no one was injured.

Staff working in shops within the cordon told ITV Wales they had been told to stay away from the windows.

South Wales Police say officers have now been stood down from the scene following a thorough search of the area, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the source of the report to police.
