A library book missing for sixty years has been returned after the anonymous borrower admitted they had kept it for "longer than I should have."
The book was loaned from Mountain Ash School Library but the borrower forgot to return it.
The fine then became too much to afford so the anonymous former pupil kept the book for more than half a century.
In a letter sent to the school with the returned book, the person said it had been on their conscience all that time.
Luckily for them, the librarians had not kept accurate records so there was no record of the book being loaned.
The former pupil has had the book recovered in an "act of contrition."
"I hope the book will give your pupils as much pleasure as it has me" finishes the letter.
