A Swansea primary school has been forced to apologise for a tweet calling Piers Morgan an "obnoxious, ignorant, fascist pig".

The tweet came from the official Gowerton Primary School account following the Good Morning Britain hosts appearance on BBC's Question Time.

Mr Morgan retweeted the post, commenting: "You represent a primary school, speaking like this on Twitter? Wow".

The school has since closed down its Twitter account and deleted the initial tweet.

A spokesperson for Gowerton Primary School said the tweet had been sent by a member of staff who believed they were using their own, personal account.

We would like to sincerely apologise for the tweet. A member of staff believed they were tweeting in a personal capacity from their personal account but inadvertently made the post using the school account.

As soon as the error was spotted the tweet was removed. We are learning the lessons of this incident to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
