Six teenagers remain in custody as Neath assault victim named

A 58-year-old man who died as a result of his injuries following an assault in Neath has been named as Mark Winchcombe.

Six teenagers have been arrested in connection and remain in police custody.

The incident happened just before 1am on 1 September in Main Road, Neath Abbey, Skewen.

Six male youths aged between 14-17 years old have been arrested and remain in police custody.

Police have asked members of the public not to speculate on the circumstances or naming of people they believe may be involved.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren George from South Wales Police said the victim's family are being supported by specially trained officers.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was driving down Main Road Skewen between midnight and 1.30am who may have dash cam footage.

“This investigation is very much ongoing and I would like to remind the public of the importance of not speculating on the circumstances or naming of people they believe may be involved.”
