A man caught ferrying £100,000 worth of cocaine in a hidden compartment of his car has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Lee Joseph Hutchinson from Liverpool admitted to being involved in the supply of a kilo of cocaine into North Wales.

He had previously been charged with conspiring to supply the class A drug in Wrexham, London and Surrey.

Mold Crown Court heard how the cocaine found in the hidden compartment was of a particularly high purity.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said that while on a suspended sentence he reverted to involvement with drugs on a significant scale.

The VX Passat was stopped by police on the A483 and police found the secret compartment between the back of a passenger seat and the boot space.

Judge Rowlands praised the "excellent police work" in bring Hutchinson to justice.

We are delighted with the sentence. The most important thing to remember is that these drugs have been taken off the streets of North Wales. Anyone pushing drugs in North Wales should expect to end up behind bars.
