Man arrested after stabbing in Welshpool

A man has been stabbed from behind while walking near the fire station at Severn Road in Welshpool.

He was walking with another man when he was wounded in the neck and abdomen. Police said his injuries are not life threatening.

It happened at around 9:45am yesterday morning.

The second man was not injured.

Police said the attacker then went towards the town centre.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in connection to the incident. He remains in police custody.

Officers are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident but they are appealing for witnesses. They said they would like to receive dash cam footage from anyone who was in the area between 9:30am and 10am.
