A woman had to be airlifted to hospital Friday evening after fracturing her leg in 'treacherous conditions' in Snowdonia.

She had been walking down Mynydd Sygyn near Beddgelert with three other people when she slipped and fell.

A coastguard helicopter was called because of the conditions and she was flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

The Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue team then used ropes to bring the other three walkers to safety.

The team were alerted shortly before 18:00hrs Friday evening to a report of a female, out walking in a party of four having fractured her lower leg on the descent path from Mynydd Sygyn above Beddgelert.

The team attended and stabilised the casualty, and administered pain relief.

Due to the treacherous conditions underfoot, assistance was requested by a Coastguard Rescue Helicopter from Caernarfon, who airlifted the female to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

We wish the casualty a speedy recovery!
