27-year-old man with 'heart of gold' named as second victim in Heads of the Valleys Road crash

South Wales Police have confirmed 27-year-old Gavin Carter is the second person who died in the Heads of The Valleys Road crash on Tuesday 15 October.

The father from the Tonyrefail area is one of two people who lost their lives following a collision on the A465.

The other man who died in the incident was named on Thursday as David Peter Jones.

The collision happened at around 4pm between Baverstocks and Hirwaun and involved two cars.

An investigation is being carried out on behalf of the Coroner.

Gavin's family said "he had a heart of gold".

Gavin is survived by his mother Lynne along with his besotted partner Julie. He is a loving father of Rozabell, younger brother of Stephanie and older brother to Craig. Gavin was a scaffolder which he loved doing and had recently been given funding to continue his training. He was a keen sportsman and loved Boxing and Rugby and had many trophies. Gavin loved being outdoors. Gavin was loved by everyone he came into contact with and would help anyone. He had a heart of gold and always enjoyed a laugh.”

Both families are receiving support from officers.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses who may have dash-cam or mobile footage of the collision.
