The rugby club said that the 22-year-old Brooke Morris played for have paid tribute to her on social media.
Brooke's body was formally identified on October 17 after it was found in the River Taff on Wednesday.
Nelson RFC described Brooke as a "an absolute maverick on and off the field who's infectious personality captured all that met [her]."
Brooke Morris was reported missing on Saturday, 12 October.
Police say she had not been seen since she was given a lift home by people known to her on Friday night after going out with friends in Merthyr Tydfil town centre.
Officers believe that Brooke did not actually enter her house.
A post mortem is due to be carried out to determine the cause of her death.
South Wales Police officers are continuing to provide support to Brooke’s family.
Hundreds of people joined search efforts for the rugby player.
