Actor Lin-Manuel Miranda surprises Welsh students in New York with improvised Cardiff rap

Pupils from Penarth were treated to a surprise performance when they bumped into Lin-Manuel Miranda in New York.

The students from Stanwell School met the creator of the musical Hamilton by chance whilst on a school trip.

Lin-Manuel performed a rap inspired by Wales to the group which featured Caerphilly Castle and even a tiny bit of Welsh.

Lin-Manuel is an American director, writer and actor who is best known for creating the musical Hamilton. He also wrote music for blockbusters like Moanna and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.

He recently spent time in the Welsh capital whilst filming new TV series His Dark Materials in which he plays Lee Scoresby.

In the impromptu performance he raps about having "a cwtch" and visiting "every castle".

Eleanor Garvey filmed the moment which her dad then shared on Twitter.
