Welsh actor Michael Sheen will play Chris Tarrant in an upcoming ITV drama called 'Quiz'.

The drama will be based on the quiz show 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' and the infamous cheating scandal.

The scandal involved a man named Charles Ingram, a former army major, who was accused and found guilty of cheating his way to the top prize of £1 million.

He did this by listening out for coughs from college lecturer Tecwen Whittock from Cardiff who was sitting in the studio audience. His wife, Diana, was also an accomplice in the scandal.

The trio maintained their innocence in the high-profile trial in 2003, but were all convicted. The Ingrams were sentenced to 18-months' jail suspended for two years.

The pictures released of actor Michael Sheen in character, is the moment Chris Tarrant arrived at Southwark Crown Court to give evidence in the trial.

ITV's 'Quiz' will be a three-part series directed by Stephen Frears, whose other TV credits include 'The Queen' and 'A Very English Scandal' and is due to air in 2020.
