More than £100,000 raised as hundreds sleep rough at Cardiff Castle to support homeless charities

Hundreds of people braved the rain and high winds to join the Big Sleep Out at Cardiff Castle on Saturday night.

Despite the weather conditions forcing the site to be evacuated shortly after 2am, the event raised more than £100,000.

Homelessness charity Llamau said the conditions were "a stark reminder" of the reality for people experiencing homelessness.

Over £100k has been raised so far, a phenomenal amount that will make a huge difference to the lives of homeless and displaced people in Wales & across the world. We are so grateful to every person who is sleeping out or has donated. Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Charlotte Church performed for the crowd, joining the British Paraorchestra and other special guests.
