A woman was airlifted to hospital after slipping near a waterfall in the Brecon Beacons.

She is suspected to have broken her ankle following the fall while walking at Scwd Yr Eira waterfall in the Ystradfellte Waterfalls area.

The Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team were alerted to the incident on Saturday evening by passers-by. Dyfed Powys Police and The Welsh Ambulance Service were also at the scene.

The Rescue team said she was safely airlifted to hospital.

Our huge thanks to passers by who phoned for help and gave detailed accurate info on the location of the lady, this allowed us to be with her in very short space of time. Working with Welsh Ambulance Services paramedics we immobilised her suspected broken ankle and stretcher carried her to our Maritime and Coastguard Agency colleagues who are thankfully extremely skilled at parking their aircraft on a nearby track.
