CCTV shows the moment strong winds overturn lorry on Severn Bridge

Highways England has released CCTV showing the moment a lorry overturned on the Severn Bridge in high winds.

The lorry was travelling from Wales into England on Monday when a "spike in winds" during the aftermath of Storm Ciara caused the vehicle to tip over.

The driver escaped with a minor head injury but the bridge remained closed for most of the day while the vehicle and debris was cleared.

Repairs were also carried out to the bridge's barrier which was damaged in the crash.

Travel disruption, flooding and power cuts affected large parts of the country after Storm Ciara brought winds of over 90 miles per hour on Sunday.

Flights, ferries and train services saw cancellations and delays, while drivers faced treacherous conditions with floodwater, fallen trees and other debris closing roads.
