Wrexham postpone match against Torquay following weather warning

Wrexham's match against Torquay United on Saturday has been postponed as Wales braces itself for Storm Dennis.

The club said the decision was made in the ''interest of safety'' as many fans would be travelling on a round-trip of more than 500 miles.

Weather warnings of high winds and heavy rain are in place across the country this weekend.

The club said it is also concerned this would affect the stadium infrastructure, surrounding trees and the Racecourse Ground pitch itself.

This early decision supported by all parties is set to prevent many supporters travelling in dangerous conditions to a fixture that may be called off late in the day due to heavy rains in any case. We would like to thank all supporters for their understanding in advance.

The fourth-named storm of the 2019-2020 season will hit the country from Saturday morning, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.

The Met Office said conditions are likely to bring flooding to homes and businesses, causing damage to some buildings. Fast flowing or deep floodwater is also likely "causing danger to life.''

The Vanarama National League match will be rearranged in due course.
