Four more people in Wales have died after testing positive for coronavirus bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 38.

On Saturday, the total number of recorded deaths in the UK passed the thousand mark.

Public Health Wales also confirmed 172 new cases have tested positive, bringing the total number of cases in Wales to 1093.

But Dr Robin Howe, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus, said the true number of cases ''is likely to be higher.''

''We offer our condolences to families and friends affected,'' Dr Robin Howe said.

“Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is now circulating in every part of Wales. The single most important action we can all take in fighting Coronavirus is to stay at home in order to protect the NHS, and save lives.''
