A teenage boy is in a "critical" but stable condition in hospital after being struck by a van in Swansea.

The collision happened at around 3.45pm on Tuesday 16 May in Heol Dulais, Birchgrove, Swansea.

A Renault Traffic van was involved and it happened not far from Birchgrove Comprehensive School.

The boy, who is local, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales.

South Wales Police said the vehicle involved was a Renault Traffic van and they were currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police is investigating a road traffic collision involving the driver of a Renault Traffic van and a 14-year-old local boy which happened at around 3.45pm on Tuesday afternoon in Heol Dulais, Birchgrove in Swansea.

"The boy was taken to the University Hospital of Wales where he remains in a critical, stable condition. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation."
